Josh and Genevieve

Josh and Genevieve and I are good friends. They moved to Toronto last fall and I’ve missed them. But for the moment I don’t need to because they’re right here visiting me in New York. We walk almost everywhere and sometimes we talk about real stuff but even more of the time we’re just joking about nothing really or singing things that come to mind. On the way from our meeting point the Jane Hotel, strolling through Chelsea, I made up a special song for the occasion. “Yeah yeah, a yayhee yayhee. Yeah yeah, a yayhee yayhee. Yeah yeah yeah, oh a yeah yeah yeah.”

Genevieve picks up where I left off, “Yeah yeah, a yayhee yayhee. Yeah yeah, a yayhee yayhee. Yeah yeah yeah, oh a yeah yeah yeah.”

Then Josh and I together, “Yeah yeah, a yayhee yayhee. Yeah yeah a yayhee YAYHEE!” Sometimes people look at us and sometimes nobody cares.

When we get to Jane Street a new song pops up. It’s sung to the tune of Jane by the Barenaked Ladies. “Jay-aaay-aaane, a yeah yeah. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah. Jay-aaay-aaane.” And then all together – “Jay-aaaay-aane.”

These guys are some of my absolute favourites.
